Sustainable Jersey representatives announced that Washington Township has met the requirements to achieve Sustainable Jersey certification at the bronze-level. Washington Township is one of 81 municipalities that have attained certification in 2022. Sustainable Jersey's participating communities represent over 82% of the state's municipalities.

To become Sustainable Jersey certified, the Washington Township Green Team submitted documentation to show the Township had completed  sustainability actions meeting a minimum of 150 action points. The Washington Township Green Team has also organized volunteer efforts to build the bioswales and pollinator garden in Harrington Park.
