Census Workers Canvassing in Washington Township
As you know, the US Government does a population census every 10 years. A number of temporary 2020 Census Workers will be canvassing in the Township. They are gathering verification information. In the Spring of 2020 census forms will be mailed. The www.2020census.gov website says that canvassers for this phase of the process will be done by mid October.
Things to know:
- Census workers will have a photo id badge, it will have a Department of Commerce watermark on it and an expiration date. If not displayed, please ask to see it.
- Most will be carrying a laptop to record information
- They will be doing address verification
- They will not ask to come into your home
- They will not ask for social security numbers, banking numbers, or any other financial information.
- They may offer census information pamphlets

This verification information gathered by canvassers will be used for the 2020 Census mailing that will take place in the first quarter of 2020.
