Additional Vaccine for People with Weakened Immune Systems

  • updated 3 yrs ago

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have authorized a free third dose of Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccines for those with moderately to severely compromised immune systems after an initial two-dose vaccine. Currently, there are no recommendations for an additional dose for people who received the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 Vaccine.

Talk to your health care provider first about your medical condition, and if getting an additional dose is right for you.

Immunocompromised individuals should be able to get a third dose of either Pfizer or Moderna beginning Saturday, August 14, 2021 - at any location offering COVID-19 vaccines.
