Township Update - April 1, 2020

Morris County has put the word out that hospitals need nurses. County OEM officials have spoken to healthcare providers across Morris County to identify this need, and are reaching out to RNs, LPNs, and others in the medical field to see if they can match the need with available personnel. Earlier today, Governor Murphy, Senate President Sweeney, and Assembly Speaker Coughlin issued a joint statement concerning the tax filing deadline.  It read, in part, “The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has caused hardships, financial strain, and disruptions for many New Jerseyans and New Jersey businesses. As part of our response, we have reached agreement that the state income tax filing deadline and the corporation business tax filing deadline will be extended from April 15th to July 15th.”

There are no new COVID-19 positive confirmations in the Township to report today. Please continue to follow Centers for Disease Control guidelines:

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

  • Avoid handshakes. Try an elbow bump.

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

  • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.

  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash. If you do not have a tissue, use your sleeve (not your hand).

  • Get a flu shot to prevent the flu if you have not done so this season.

If you’re sick call your health care provider. Call your doctor or hospital FIRST before driving by following the CDC guidelines and stay home as much as possible.

The State of NJ has also implemented the following:

  • Stay home as per Executive Order 107 of the Governor of New Jersey.

  • Non-essential businesses are to close/adopt work from home practices.

  • No groups larger than 10, observe social distancing while out.

I also want to reiterate again that small business owners, non-profits, homeowners and renters can file for Disaster Loan Assistance at the SBA website: SBA - Disaster Loan Assistance
