2026 Community Fraud Awareness Seminar

REGISTRATION FORM:2026 Fraud Seminar Flyer
Washington Township Recreation is inviting the local and surrounding communities—especially seniors— to a free, interactive seminar focused on protecting you from the latest fraud and financial crime threats. With scams becoming more sophisticated and increasingly aimed at seniors, this event held at the W.T. Community Center on May 28th at 11:00am offers timely, practical guidance in an accessible, conversational format.
Instead of a traditional presentation, the session will begin with an open Q&A, giving attendees the chance to ask questions right away and discuss real situations they’ve encountered. Det. Ryan Thomas will then highlight several current scam trends, with a special focus on government and utility imposter scams, which have become increasingly common in our area.
These scams often involve callers pretending to be from Social Security, Medicare, the IRS, or local utility companies. The seminar will explain how these schemes work and offer practical tips to recognize and avoid them.
Attendees will be encouraged to continue asking questions throughout the event, keeping the discussion relevant and community‑driven.
Registration is required by May 21, 2026. To register, please call the Recreation office at (908) 876-5941 or email recreation@wtmorris.net. No walk-ins allowed.
