Township Update - April 3, 2020
April 3, 2020 - I received the following info on the Governor's weekly conference call yesterday:
The State has a total of 25,590 confirmed cases with 537 fatalities. There have also been more than 33,000 negative tests.
The Governor has issued an Executive order protecting health care workers (EO-112) and an Administrative Order that exempts Blood Drives for essential services making them permissible to be held. So please give blood if you are able.
For any constituent matters, especially as it relates to unemployment questions for the Governor's Office, you can send an email to consitiuent.relations@nj.gov and a person will respond with assistance. For any general information on COVID-19, you may use https://covid19.nj.gov/ .
The Governor is working with members of the Legislature on a plan to defer property taxes to the Municipalities, but at this point the State has no guidance.
There are fourteen cases of COVID-19 in the Township confirmed through April 2. Visit our COVID-19 Portal at https://www.wtmorris.org/index.php/departments/health/covid-19.html for more info and guidelines. If you’re sick, call your healthcare provider. Call your doctor or hospital FIRST before driving by following the CDC guidelines and stay home as much as possible:
-
Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
-
Avoid handshakes. Try an elbow bump.
-
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
-
If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
-
Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
-
Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash. If you do not have a tissue, use your sleeve (not your hand).
-
Get a flu shot to prevent the flu if you have not done so this season.
Morris County has put the word out that hospitals need nurses. County OEM officials have spoken to healthcare providers across Morris County to identify this need, and are reaching out to RNs, LPNs, and others in the medical field to see if they can match the need with available personnel. Earlier this week, Governor Murphy, Senate President Sweeney, and Assembly Speaker Coughlin issued a joint statement that they have reached an agreement that the state income tax filing deadline and the corporation business tax filing deadline will be extended from April 15th to July 15th.
