Police Department Announces Programs, Training, and Meetings for Residents

The Washington Township Police would like to offer the following meeting/training opportunities to our residents.  While walk-ins are welcome, confirmation of attendance for all events to rsvp@wtpdmorris.org is appreciated so we can have an accurate count of people attending.  We are also trying something new, by offering the programs twice each day so that we can accommodate people’s schedules better.  Based upon the topics that will be addressed in the training sessions, we recommend no one below the age of 18 attend without a parent.

Wednesday October 23rd.    Mayor Matt Murello, Police Commissioner Ken Short, and Chief Jeff Almer invite you to an open discussion about any and all concerns you may have.  We welcome all residents to join us for a cup of coffee and for some open conversation about what is going on in town and around us.   Feel free to stop by or RSVP.  The first session will be at 10am at the Coffee Potter.  The second session will be at Police Headquarters at 7pm.  Each will be 1-2 hours in length depending on the turn out.  Bring your questions and we hope to see you there.  (rsvp@wtpdmorris.org/908-876-3232  X1301)

Wednesday November 6th.    Current Drug Trends.   Join the Washington Township Police and K-9 Officer Mike Thompson as he reviews all of the current drug trends that are affecting our community.  These range from opioids, marijuana, vaping, and everything in between.  NARCAN and its application will also be discussed.   The first session will be at 10am and the second at 7pm, both at Police headquarters in the training room.   Please RSVP, but walk-ins are welcome.  Sessions will be approximately 2 hours long.

This is a very concerning topic, which affects everyone in our community, so please come out and learn more about what is going on with the current drug situation and what we can do about it.  (rsvp@wtpdmorris.org/908-876-3232  X1301)

Wednesday November 13th.   Active Shooter Presentation and Preparedness.   Lt. Chris Bratus will be giving a presentation on active shooter and preparedness.  This is a very in depth, straight forward presentation, and one that everyone should attend at some point not only to be aware of what is going on, but to better prepare themselves and their families for something that we all hope will never happen.  This topic has become a very real concern in today’s environment, so come out and learn the facts and how to keep you and your family safe.

Session are at 10am and again at 7pm at Police Headquarters, and approximately 2 hours in length.   Please RSVP but again, walk ins are welcome.  (rsvp@wtpdmorris.org/908-876-3232  X1301)

We look forward to seeing you and please share the above with others as well.
