Township Update - May 28, 2020

May 28, 2020 - There are two new confirmed covid-19 positive cases to report, for a total of 112 as well as two more released from isolation for a total of 56.

The drive-in movie registration is closed. However, we are offering online “Let’s Move with Dance Cardio.” The class is open to everyone including seniors and will be held from 11-11:45pm on Tuesday’s June 2nd – June 23rd (4wks). We are also offering a Super Science “Camp in a Box” for ages 7-12. More info is available on the recreation announcement page at:

I want to thank all our volunteer boards and committees who have been continuing to help the Township government run by moving their meetings to zoom. At the Township Committee’s June 10 meeting I will have some recommendations to help our restaurants and small businesses that were developed with representatives from our land use boards. These recommendations, such as allowing more outside seating and retail sales once we are permitted by the Governor, will hopefully help local businesses as restrictions are phased out.

As a reminder, if you’re sick, call your healthcare provider. Call your doctor’s office or hospital FIRST before driving there. If you call 9-1-1 for a true emergency, please cover your face to protect yourself and our first responders. Follow CDC guidelines and stay home as much as possible:

  • Wear a cloth mask at grocery stores, parks and golf courses and where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

  • Avoid handshakes.

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

  • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.

  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash. If you do not have a tissue, use your sleeve (not your hand).

  • Get a flu shot to prevent the flu if you have not done so this season.

Stay safe,

Mayor Matthew T. Murello
