April 8, 2020 - The Governor has issued Executive Order 118 closing state and county parks completely effective April 7 at 8 p.m. Please contact Morris County Park Police for violations at county parks and trails by calling 973-285-2951. Hacklebarney is a state park and violations can be reported to the state park police at 877-927-6337. Municipal parks will remain open for walking while athletic fields and courts remain closed. To prevent potential overcrowding, many parking lots will be closed to limit the number of potential users and parking in prohibited areas, including closed lots, grass and roadways will be strictly enforced. Should the ability to maintain social distancing by users become an issue, municipal parks will be closed.

OPERATION CHILLOUT has donated fabric for volunteers who are making PPE masks for local first responders. The volunteers are members of the Washington Township Office of Emergency Management Community Emergency Response Team.

The Washington Township Health Department, in conjunction with the New Jersey Department of Health, reports it has confirmed 30 cases of COVID-19 (coronavirus) in Washington Township through April 7, 2020. The Washington Township Health Department has confirmed recoveries in four cases. A confirmed case is those where positive results have been reported to the state and the local Health Department has opened an investigation.

• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

• Avoid handshakes. Try an elbow bump.

• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

• If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.

• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

• Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash. If you do not have a tissue, use your sleeve (not your hand).

• Get a flu shot to prevent the flu if you have not done so this season. 

• Wear a cloth mask in public where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain.
