Morris County’s rehabilitation work on the Schooley’s Mountain Road bridge started on Friday, June 16, 2023, and is currently progressing on schedule.

The next phase requires FULL CLOSURE OF THE BRIDGE, BOTH NORTH AND SOUTH BOUND LANES, BEGINNING ON MONDAY, JULY 10 and it will remain completely closed for approximately 3 weeks.

The goal of finishing the entire project by the time school reopens on August 23, 2023 is on target and the reopening of the north bound lane will be announced when established.

Temporary traffic signals have been installed at Naughright Road, Flocktown Road and Fairview Avenue for the duration of the project.

Detour signs have been installed for the full closure.

While the county understands this is a hardship to anyone commuting this section of Schooley’s Mountain Road, this historic arch bridge has served the community for nearly 150 years and residents can look forward to having a safer, better-looking bridge in a few short months.
